【BEASTARS】Performance, Murder, and the Beast.【Episode 1】

Mafuyu(^q^)/ :I mean… I actually don’t know if I categorize this as the mysterious school genre or not but… 【BEASTARS】had this many elements after I watched Episode 1…!

Mafuyu(^q^)/ :I usually feature some staple or happy Anime here in this Goods Republic’s articles but… today, I’ll feature Anime, BEASTERS, where I really want to watch Episode 2!

Mafuyu(^q^)/ :By the way, as soon as this Anime started…

Mafuyu(^q^)/ :An alpaca was preyed by a carnivorous beast.

Mafuyu(^q^)/ :This alpaca shouted, “Are you sure you’re going to eat one of your classmates who you always had class together!?”. Yes, they both are the students and know each other… This first scene in Anime, where these two chase and run away, was running so smoothly and it was as if I was watching a movie… The music had a certain atmosphere in it too and I couldn’t help but watched, being thrilled!

Mafuyu(^q^)/ :Of course that incident was spread through their school on the next day and all the students, both herbivorous and carnivorous beasts, have started to develop a feeling of distrust, I mean, rather recognize that the carnivorous beasts are scary ‘after all’. What’s more? The alpaca, who was murdered, was the student who belonged to the drama club, where both the carnivorous beasts and the herbivorous ones really got along… It looks like they live in the world, where this kind of awful incident often occurs, even though they try to have two tribes coexist by medication and education.

Mafuyu(^q^)/ :Guess what? The alpaca student, who was killed, was supposed to play the important role in the performance two weeks from then. What should we do? All the members of the drama club got panicked… when there was a wolf student, who was staring at a sheep girl student.

Mafuyu(^q^)/ :His name was Legosi, and he was one of the students in the drama club, who was in charge of art. The sheep girl felt scare of being stared by him… When she was about to go home after the club activity…

Mafuyu(^q^)/ :Legosi surprised her, waiting in ambush. The sheep girl got the scissor (she always carries one for emergencies) out. Legosi got closer to her and took the scissor away from her…!!!

Mafuyu(^q^)/ :Then he offered a letter to her… It was a love letter from alpaca student who was killed on the previous day. He ended up not having been able to hand that to her.

Mafuyu(^q^)/ :Legosi knew that the alpaca student hadn’t been able to give that letter to her. The timing wasn’t good. However, Legosi also knew that he really wanted to give the letter to her someday. Knowing that, Legosi finally decided to give it to her.

Mafuyu(^q^)/ :The scene, where he handed the letter to her, was so lovely as if I was watching the movie. They were sitting a little further from each other and we also heard a little sad song too…I really understand how Legosi thought about him and at the same time, I knew that the sheep girl was afraid of the carnivorous beasts too. It was such a sad scene…

Mafuyu(^q^)/ :Since the sheep girl had been spreading around that Legosi is creepy and scary, she told Legosi that she wanted to apologize about what she said about him in front of everybody. But Legosi turned down her apology because he was sorry that alpaca’s love confession would spread out after his death. He left her saying that he was okay since he had been scared or disliked by people anyway and that nothing would change while she kept thanking him.

Mafuyu(^q^)/ :And the next day, two things happened.

One is that Haru, a rabbit girl, teased one of the Harlequin (endangered species) rabbit’s couples and ended up having been bullied insidiously by the girl, saying Haru stole her boyfriend.

Mafuyu(^q^)/ :Even though Haru insisted that it was her boyfriend who teased her…, her anger never seemed to be healed. Maybe one of the reasons is that Haru challenged back to the girl too….

Mafuyu(^q^)/ :Another thing is that Legosi met Louis, the leader of the actor team of the drama club. Louis is a son of the certain zaibatsu families. He was a handsome and popular deer boy. He was a little authoritative boy and treated people and himself very strictly.

Mafuyu(^q^)/ :They both knew that they were the leader of the actor team and the member of the art team. Louis told him that they would practice for the member who would substitute the alpaca boy at nighttime so he should watch it over so teachers would not come and look since they would use the gym without a permission.

Mafuyu(^q^)/ :Knowing that it was a bad thing to do, Legosi could never refuse his favor because he knew that Louis was doing that not because he just wanted to do for himself but for the drama club. Then the night came… Haru, who was trying to dry off her school uniform, showed up in front of Legosi, who was watching over in front of the gym.

Mafuyu(^q^)/ :Then Legosi smelled something unique to the herbivore…

Mafuyu(^q^)/ :And this scene goes back to the one at the beginning of Anime…!!

Mafuyu(^q^)/ :Episode 1 is over like this but well~~~~~~~~~~~ there are lots to wonder why, huh?? First off, who murdered the alpaca boy? What is the drama club going to be like…?! What is the relationship of Legosi and Haru, who saw that way, going to be like…?! How Episode 1 ended was so good that it made us want to watch Episode 2 too, huh~?

Mafuyu(^q^)/ :Having a similar social structure as the one of the human society, they are actually very different. BEASTARS has the very unique worldview!!
