For instance, you might like the very corner when you sit on the train. How about a café or a restaurant? You might choose the seat where nobody’s around. Some of you might feel somehow “comfortable” when you are in the corner.

Sumikko Gurashi is a group of such characters who are shy and love to be in the corners! I’ll share their charms being a little shy but super cute!

He is a shy polar bear who ran away from the North.

Shirokuma feels the most at home while drinking hot tea in the corner. He loves to bathe in hot springs, and has an easygoing personality. Actually, he is good with his hands and very good at cooking.

Penguin? is unsure if he is really a penguin. He likes eating cucumbers and has vague memories of having a plate on his head……? He often uses sneaky ways to take the corner for himself. He has so many hobbies such as reading books or listening to music but he is not outgoing.

Tonkatsu is an edge slice from a fried pork cutlet, composed of 1% meat and 99% fat.

That’s why he was left behind on the plate after the meal finished. He sometimes remembers such sad past and cries. He also puts condiments like sauce on himself and enjoy bathing in the hot oil to appeal that he is indeed still edible.

Neko (Gattinosh) is a timid cat.

It’s timid, socially anxious, humble. That’s why it often gives the corner away to other Sumikko. It feels safe when it is snugly covered. Its favorite food is rice balls, as well as cat grass, canned cat food, and fish. It cares a little about its chubby body.

Tokage is a light blue lizard.

To tell you the truth, though……he is an aquatic dinosaur who usually poses as a lizard to avoid being captured. He has once thought that he will confess that he is a dinosaur but he keeps it secret since he might put everybody in a risk. He has lost his mother before. Just like the cat, he loves fish as well. That’s why they get along well.
