What Is Fate/Grand Order?

Fate/Grand Order is an online Japanese mobile game, where you save the world from destruction with characters who appear in the Fate series, such as Fate/stay night.
It’s such a popular game, containing a large-volume scenario, a highly-strategic command card battle, existence of “Servants,” who are typically historical, literary, and mythological figures from various cultures. There, you can communicate with the Servants, which is so profound for the players.

Is it okay to go watch the movie, Order VI・Camelot, without any advanced knowledge?

I would suggest that you shouldn’t go watch this one if you don’t know anything about Fate/Grand Order series!
The scenario itself is very interesting and I really want everybody to watch it but…… I’m afraid you might not able to catch up the story if you haven’t watched this series before so I would not recommend this movie to the beginners of this series!
  • While it’s one of the most popular scenarios among all the main ones, this movie covers Chapter 6, which is way ahead of the story so you might not be able to catch up with the story……?
  • I have a feeling that so many elements will be cut out since it’s shortened from the large volume of the original story.
But this movie is separated into Part 1 and 2, so there might be some explanations too. However, I would suggest that you should check out the story of Fate/Grand Order in advance if possible……!

What To Check Before You Go Watch the Movie, Order VI・Camelot?

My recommendation is THIS! The anime aired in 2019: Fate/Grand Order - Absolute Demonic Front: Babylonia!

This one is animated from the scenario in the game but it has aired in a long period of time, compared to the movie version, therefore, you will see more explanations for the fundamental knowledge! In chronological order, Babylonia (Chapter 7) comes after Camelot (Chapter 6), however, we see no spoilers of Chapter 6 so I would recommend this one!

Outline of the Movie, Order VI・Camelot!

In 2015, the magical organization, where they observe human’s future, “proved” that “humans will extinct in 2016.” What causes the destruction of the world is the seven “Singularity,” which is distortion of the history.
The “Singularity” is fragment of possibility, following the history, which actually cannot exist.
If we don’t do anything to deal with it, it gradually expands, affecting our true history. What’s worse, it will end up falsifying the true history and the history of the “Singularity” will be the true history, instead. If that happens seven times throughout the history, the world will fall apart.
Therefore, the main protagonist tries to get rid of or fix the “Singularity,” with a help of the Servants, who are typically historical, literary, and mythological figures in history.
In the stage of this movie, Camelot, is the sixth Singularity.
The story is set in AD1273 in Jerusalem. It’s right after the Kingdom of Jerusalem disappeared from the world after the ninth crusade is over.
It should have been the year, when the sacred place, full of belief, has gone but……
Surprisingly, the holy city was governed by the “new King.” What’s more? Knights of the Round Table, which has existed before, was protecting the King.
The main protagonist will now fight against the new King, who governs Jerusalem, while trying to solve the cause of the Singularity……!
