So today! I’ll feature “got to know” anime info 2021! The series I’ll be sharing with you today is the one, serialized in Shonen Jump! It’s a classic shonen manga with the theme of SF×Survival×Science Fantasy!!

Season 2 is scheduled to air in January 2021 but…… I haven’t watched Season 1 so let’s check out the quick outline together!

What Is Dr.STONE?

It’s a Japanese manga series, which has been serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump since 2017.
It’s written by Inagaki Riichirou-Sensei and illustrated by Boichi-Sensei. It started to be serialized around March 2017 and 18 volumes have currently been released. It’s got received various awards, such as the 2nd place in the comics category of Tsugi ni Kuru Manga Awards, 2018!
A first season of the anime series aired in July 2019 and a second season will premiere in January 2021.
I found out that Inagaki Riichirou-Sensei has also worked on the series, “EYESHIELD 21,” serialized in Shonen Jump!

EYESHIELD 21’s theme is the American football, right? It has a quite different storyline from Dr. STONE, which I’ll be featuring today……!
All right then! Let’s check out the story about Dr. STONE, described as SF×Survival Fantasy!

Outline of Dr.STONE!

The main protagonist is a science otaku, Ishigami Senku!!

The story is first set in the modern world. There is a high school boy called Ishigami Senku, who loves science. Under his own belief, “Science requires continuous exploration,” he even has various knowledge besides science.
One day, one of Senku’s friends, Ooki Taiju, decides to ask a girl, Ogawa Yuzuriha, to go out.

When Taiju is about to tell her at the back of school……
A mysterious flash of light covers the world.
People who expose the light, turn into a stone, never being able to move, but with consciousness. Taiju , Yuzuriha and Senku all expose and turn into stones. As time goes by……
Humans all have disappeared.
However, Taiju is revived because he had a strong will, where he wanted to ask Yuzuriha out! The stone, covering his body, peels off and is now able to walk……!
After a lapse of many years, people have been “destroyed” due to wind and rain. Sending his prayers to them, Taiju now looks for Yuzuriha……!
He finds Yuzuriha being safe. Since Taiju has advised her to grab the tree when they saw the light, she was luckily saved by the tree!
There’s a message written by Yuzurina…… saying “Go down along the river.” Taiju goes down as it says……!!
There, he sees Senku!
It looks like he was also revived half a year ago, and he has counted the dates even while he was a stone so he can stay conscious. According to him, it has been 3700 years since they exposed to the mysterious light……
Now they see each other. The best part about this story is how they find out the way of having other people revived form the stones, how they live and how they survive the world, when 3700 years have passed, with a help of the “science”……!
I haven’t watched Season 1 but I know that there’s an episode where they manage to make cola with their original recipe because it went viral in Japan~! Some of the famous Youtubers in Japan even tried that with the recipe shown in Dr. STONE!

Season 1 covered 60 Episodes, “Vol.7”!
Meaning Season 2 (might) start at Episode 61, “Vol.7”!?

Yep! Since Season 1 covered 60 episodes in Vol.7, Season 2 will start at Episode 61 in Vol.7!
It’s been a while since Season 1, so we might be able to see Episode 1 to review the story even for the beginners of Dr. STONE?
