Many great anime are airing, but, also, they are sequels! So today, I want to recap this popular anime that started its season 4 this fall!

【Golden Kamuy】Anime season 4 started in October! The hidden golden treasure hunt returned from episode 37! Let’s quickly review seasons 1 to 3 and recap from episode 37!

Anime season 1: The story begins!
Prisoners who “tattooed” the encrypted golden treasure map escaped from a prison in Hokkaido!

The story takes place around 1990. There was a rumor about a hidden golden treasure buried in the mighty Northern field of Hokkaido. The person who knows where it is hidden is a prisoner and he never revealed anything about it. However, what he did was to tattoo the encrypted golden treasure map on other prisoners’ bodies and helped them escape from the prison!!

The prisoner who tattooed the secret map on the others had a plan to contact his group to collect the golden treasure, but things did not go well. The tattooed prisoners who escaped from the prison dispersed all over. So the golden treasure became just a rumor and people started forgetting about it.

One day, the main character, Sugimoto Saichi happened to meet with an old escaped prisoner who had been tattooed!

Sugimoto now realized that the rumor was true. He was in need of large sums of money for a particular purpose – to help the wife of his deceased childhood friend. While he was hunting for the treasure, he met a girl from the indigenous Ainu tribe. Her name is Asirpa and her father was killed when the prisoners escaped from the prison. Asirpa and Sugimoto became partners to hunt for the treasure together!

Furthermore! There are other groups of people who are hunting for the same treasure!

A division of Japan’s military was sent to Hokkaido to control the land. Despite his true mission to govern the area, the leader of the Hokkaido 7th Division, Tsurumi, plotted to take the fortune by using his military group and hunt for the treasure.

Who else is chasing for the treasure? Hijikata Toshizo was also looking for the hidden treasure! He used to be Sinsengumi’s assistant leader and had helped prisoners escape from the prison!

The main idea of this story is that 3 groups of people compete with each other to hunt for the hidden golden treasure in Hokkaido. In season 1, each group and their main characters were introduced while competing against the escaped prisoners.

In season 2 and 3, the story contains conspiracies and betrayals! It is getting intense!
Popular characters such as Shiraishi and Ogata play active roles!

In Golden Kamuy seasons 2 and 3, each group makes various plans to compete against others and hunt for the golden treasure. The story development is very dynamic! I can’t tell you the details to avoid spoilers here (sorry, I cannot explain much of the outline......), but popular characters such as Shiraishi and Ogata takes active roles in the story and it gets more interesting and intense!!

By the end of season 3, Asirpa-san found out that her father was deeply related to this golden treasure hunting. At the same time, Sugimoto wanted her to be out of the bloody battles for the hidden golden treasure. He wants her to be in a better and safer place.

However, Asirpa wanted to know more about her father. She also wanted to end the battle over the gold. At the end of season 3, Sugimoto and Asirpa confirmed their purposes for this hunt again and realized they both needed each other.

At this point, we don’t know how far anime season 4 will progress!
It is getting close to climax for sure, so don’t miss any episodes! If you haven’t checked out this anime, now is the time to start watching it!!

Golden Kamuy Anime season 4 seems to describe the story up to volume 27 of the manga version according to previous seasons’ pace.

Moreover, Anime season 4 started as”Episode 37” instead of “Season 4 episode 1.” So I highly recommend that you watch/review seasons 1 to 3 before you start watching season 4!
