I want to explain what kind of anime HIGH CARD, an original animation about “superhuman powers and abilities”, is about! HIGH CARD is a remarkable new anime that was created in cooperation with TMS ENTERTAINMENT CO.,LTD. and KADOKAWA CORPORATION, and other major anime companies!

What is HIGH CARD?

The story takes place in a world that is very similar to the present day in which we live, but in which a fictional country exists. The main character, Finn Oldman, living in the Kingdom of Fourland, learns that the orphanage that once cared for him is in financial trouble.

Finn is aiming to win big at the casino and secure funds to rebuild the orphanage! However, the man at the same table is too strong to gamble and Finn does not win at all!

Eventually, Finn discovers that the man's overwhelming luck is due to the influence of X-Playing cards, mysterious cards that resemble playing cards! Then, various people started attacking the gambler and, incidentally, Finn, who was sitting next to him, for the X-Playing cards!

Two men who are after an X-playing card owned by the gambler are enemies each other, and they seem to have one X-Playing card each!! A flashy battle begins at night in the city. Finn discovers that these X-Playing cards have tremendous power, and depending on the different abilities hidden in the cards, they can easily wipe out a small city.

In the midst of the fierce battle, Finn takes a moment to steal the X-Playing card from the gambler! That changes the target of the two men from the gambler to Finn! Cornered, Finn quietly pulls out something!

It is an X-Playing card with a different pattern than the one Finn robbed from the gambler. So Finn also owned a X-Playing card......!

In the episode 1, Finn managed to escape from the men's pursuit. However, Finn discovers that there is actually an organization, Pinochle, which is secretly collecting these X-Playing cards on behalf of the state. Apparently, according to them, X-Playing cards are......

• There are 52 X-Playing cards.
• The shape is almost the same as an ordinary playing card.
• All 52 cards conceal different superhuman powers and abilities.
• Only the “player” selected for that X-Playing card can use that different ability.
• A “player” can only use one ability (cannot have multiple abilities).
• Most of those cards are now scattered around the country, although Pinochle has recovered some of them.

Finn gets this information. Pinochle then asks Finn, who has been chosen as a “player” on the X-Playing card (and can use a superhuman power and ability), to join the HIGH CARD, a unit dedicated to collecting X-Playing cards!

I know I've explained this at length, but it's pretty cool to see the superhuman powers battling that I didn't get to explain here! The story structure is developed by the original author of Kakegurui.

I could go on for a long one, but the story of episode 1 itself is very stylish and easy to follow! (Sorry for my poor explanation!) In short, HIGH CARD is the story of Finn's retrieval of 52 X-Playing cards that contain different superhuman powers and abilities, as a member of the organization called HIGH CARD!

There are already several players in the story who have been chosen for the X-Playing card. They're pretty unique and interesting in their different superhuman abilities! It is also important to note that the strength of the different abilities on the cards is determined by the number on the card. So, Finn is a 2 of spades player, so Finn's different superhuman ability is the weakest!

The original animation, HIGH CARD, has a fairly straightforward setting and good battle action drawings. The first half is over, and it's about time to start the second half, so if you haven't seen it yet, but are getting a little curious, you'd better start following it now!
