In this article, we will explain what summer anime titles are scheduled to air starting in July 2023!

In this first article, we introduce Spy Room, whose first anime season aired in January 2023.

With a good mix of fantasy, espionage, and mystery (and gag) elements, the final episode of the first season of Spy Room had a surprise ending!

Spy Room is based on a hit light novel that has sold over 1 million copies in Japan! The serialization began in 2020, and currently 13 volumes have been published, including 9 volumes of the main story plus 4 volumes of short stories! The first anime season aired from January to the end of March 2023, and the contents up to the second volume of the main story were animated!

To give a brief synopsis, the story takes place in a world where a major war has taken place. After its conclusion, countries around the world began to emphasize the importance of spies in order to govern more efficiently.

In the midst of all this, seven girls are gathered in a country. All of them are inexperienced as spies. Under Klaus' leadership, the seven girls are assigned to an unachievable mission with a “mortality rate of over 90%.

I would like to go into more detail, but that would touch on the “mystery element” that is one of the attractions of “The Spy Room,” so I can't.

For now, just know that the story is like this!

Many people seem to imagine it to be quite a comedic story, as it is a spy story that takes place in a fantasy world with many girls. However, there is actually a solid storyline, and the charm of the story structure is that it is not all gags, but also includes serious and mystery elements! Surprisingly, it tackles the mission well, depicts a battle of minds, and the story is more on the serious side! This is the point where it is appreciated!

I was also too surprised by the events of the last 3 minutes of the last 12 episodes of the first season. I was quite surprised at the way it ended, as if a second anime season would follow...... I was convinced when I heard that a second (or rather sequel) anime season will be aired this time! I can't help but wonder about the rest of that scene!!

You may ask whether it is better to watch the second season of the anime after watching the first season of the anime.

You should definitely watch the first season of the anime before watching the second season! The stories are quite closely connected, so I do not recommend (personally) that you suddenly start watching from the second season! (Perhaps there will be an explanation in the first episode of the second anime season, but honestly, I personally recommend watching the entire first anime season.) The first anime season is quite interesting, so please watch Spy Room from the first season as it is quicker to watch!
