The story was originally distributed as Doujinshi, but it became so popular and was released as a comic book, which has now sold 500,000 copies. Here's a quick explanation of what the story is all about!

Onii-chan wa Oshimai! is a story about a reclusive older brother who suddenly becomes a girl!

The main character, Mahiro, is an unemployed man who has been shut in for some time. But one day, he woke up and found himself a middle school girl!

The reason for this was the invention of his sister, Mihari, who was a genius enough to be accepted into college with a flying start. Mihari thought that if Mahiro became a pretty girl, he would break his reticence and take an interest in all sorts of things!

Since Mahiro has not been taught how to become a man again, he decides to stay as a girl for now. However, he struggles with the life of a “girl,” which is completely different from that of a man! The clothes he wears, the way he bathes, the way he goes to the bathroom, the way his body is built, the way he does his makeup is totally different than when he was a man! Will Mahiro be able to survive in the world of girls that he knew but did not know at all? This is the general story of this anime.

To be very honest, Oni-chan wa Oshimai! was not that popular before it was made into an anime. However, when it was made into an anime, people said, “Surprisingly, the story is simple (easy to understand) and interesting.” “It's a little hard to recommend to others, but it teaches you things you didn't know about girls,” and “The tempo is good (two 15-minute episodes per broadcast).” Also, I know a lot of people who continue to watch the show straight from the enjoyment of the first episode!

I too watched episodes 1-3! Indeed, this anime is interesting, although it is hard to recommend. And the story is easy to follow, and there's quite a bit to learn about all sorts of things! When a normally sloppy guy suddenly turns into a middle-school girl, it's a bit confusing, isn't it? The reason it is hard to recommend is that it very realistically portrays the life of girls (choosing clothes, bathing differently, etc.). But that means it's carefully explained without making any adaptations. This anime neatly depicts the life of girls, and the main character is confused and troubled by the gap between his reality and his assumptions. That's the interesting point!

It's basically a story about an older brother being confused by girls’ life...... but it's also good to see the occasional brother-sister bond~! Mahiro is now a girl, and he is aware of the effort her younger sister Mihari puts into many things on a daily basis.
