A quick description of the Buddy Daddies storyline is that it's about two assassins who, while on duty, protect a civilian girl and start acting as her daddies!

It sounds like a story about a girl kidnapping, but there is a reason for that! First of all, the two main characters are very skilled assassins! The two work in pairs, and their action-packed mission scenes are quite spectacular!

One day, they are tasked with assassinating a mafia boss who is in charge of a large-scale human trafficking operation. The mission itself is quite difficult, but the two manage it without any difficulty...... But on the way, they come across a “girl” who is looking for her daddy......!

The girl follows them to a party held by the mafia boss! The two manage to assassinate the boss, but...... the girl, Miri is the daughter of the mafia boss's mistress!

Her mother has disappeared, so the two wanted to hand Miri over to the police, but they were seen at work, so they were very worried...... Fortunately, Miri believes the lie that Kazuki told her when he rescued her, that he is her father! She is very attached to both of them!

If Miri stays at home, their job will obviously be disrupted, and they must find her mother and reunite her with Miri as soon as possible...... What will the future hold for the two assassins, or “Daddies” and “Girl”?

In fact, Buddy Daddies reminded quite a few people (including me) of SPY x FAMILY because of the similarities between assassins, pseudo-families, and threesomes!

But in conclusion, I think that Buddy Daddies has similar elements to SPY x FAMILY, which is what makes its differences from SPY x FAMILY so appealing! Personally, I think the difference and the charm of SPY x FAMILY is that SPY x FAMILY has more scenes of family bonding, whereas Buddy Daddies has more scenes of working as assassins and (somehow) having Miri on the scene to keep the viewers on the edge of their seats!

One thing in particular that makes a huge difference is the presence of Miri from Buddy Daddies! She doesn't understand that Kazuki and Rui are assassins, which makes her very innocent and reinforces Kazuki and Rui's feeling that they must 'responsibly protect Miri'.

I really feel the difference between the words that stick in my mind because she knows what is going on and the words that stick in my mind because she doesn't know anything about it, when I compare the two animations...... I think the difference in the impression that the two children in the two works give to us is quite significant!

Another feature of Buddy Daddies is that there are a lot of “dark scenes” (scenes in which Kazuki and Rui are working). While SPY x FAMILY has many scenes of family interaction, Buddy Daddies has quite a few scenes of working as a professional assassins, so the overall atmosphere of the work is rather serious. This balanced distribution of the daily life and work parts reminds me of Lycoris Recoil~! I would describe it more like watching Lycoris Recoil than watching SPY x FAMILY!

So, my personal overall impression of this anime is quite different from the impression I had before I saw it! There are a little less gags and comedy than I expected, but there are quite a lot of action scenes that keep you on the edge of your seat, so once you start watching, the time goes by very quickly!}

The story is pretty well paced and pretty good to watch, too! It's March and we're about to see the final episode...... so if you haven't seen it yet, you should check it out!
