Yes! In about 2 weeks, it’s July! 2023 summer anime will start in July...... so for today’s article! We want to do an early feature on an anticipated work!

Today’s featured summer anime is an RPG that’s sold 5 million copies worldwide! I think that you’ve heard of the name! I’ve heard of it too! But maybe you don’t know what kind of game it is! for such people, we send this 5 minute read article!

The summer anime that we are introducing today (without plot spoilers) is Atelier Ryza’s part 1, “Atelier Ryza: Ever Darkness & the Secret Hideout,” from the “atelier series” game! Even if you don’t know Atelier Series! Please read today’s article and study it briefly!

Released since 1997, Atelier Series is a RPG game about “alchemy”! It reached its 26th year anniversary in 2023, and there was a rather large scale event last year to celebrate the 25th year anniversary too!

The series-wide characteristics are the main character girl’s name or nickname in the game title, and that it’s a game where she makes her dreams and goals come true by growing mature through alchemy!

Rather than enjoying a serious story or a intense battle, it’s more about enjoying a beautiful world filled with nature and magic, and peak into the story of the people who live there...... This game series’ appeal is that it’s like a picture-book, but the player can be directly involved with that world! It has good music, character and scope, and it’s a popular work that keeps getting more fans each time a new release comes out from the series!

And the confirmed summer anime, Atelier Ryza, is the 21st Atelier Series that was released in 2019!

The main character, Ryza, is a girl born in a seaside village. Her current life with her childhood friends in the village is peaceful but very boring. Then one day, Ryza makes a decision!

There are 3 Atelier Series with this Ryza as the main character, and the total sale and popularity of these 3 works exceeds 1 Million sales! We suspect that the animation will follow the story of the first part: Atelier Ryza: Ever Darkness & the Secret Hideout(since the anime title is the same as the first work)!

For Atelier Series, the world setting (like local customs) changes for each main character, so it’s not a game that makes you feel lost if you don’t play sequentially! (it’s not a game that requires prior knowledge).

Of course the anime is easier to understand if you play the game in advance! But, Atelier Ryza shows the village manners and the world rules in detail from the first episode, so I think you can understand the scope and setting even if you start with the anime!
