Hi guys! We’re in February now! It’s Mafuyu from Goods Republic!
We’re in February, meaning Winter 2021 have almost reached the first half…… What shows have you been enjoying watching? The ones you know the original? Or the completely the original ones?
The Winter 2021 Anime that I’ll be featuring today is a little special series! The movie version released first, then the anime version, containing some additions from the movie, released! It’s such an attractive surfing anime which both those who have watched the movie and the anime can enjoy!

What Is WAVE!! ～サーフィンすっぺ～?

It’s a multimedia project. The original was produced by MAGES. Inc.
The movie version released with three chapters, prior to the anime adaptation.
As for the movie, the 1st part aired October 2nd, 2020. The 2nd part aired October 16th 2020 and the 3rd part aired October 30th 2020, which made the story concluded.
Then finally its anime is set to premiere January 2021 as one of the Winter 2021 Anime, with some additions from the movie version and the extra new episode! In anime, the story seems to be set in Ibaraki Prefecture and then in Shounan, ending up in Hawaii, which is known as the sacred place for surfing.
So the movie released first, then the anime with the new episode released…… This reminds me of one of the recent series, KING OF PRISM!

WAVE!! What’s the Difference Between Movie and Anime?

I’ve heard that the anime version contains some additions and cut from the movie and some completely new scenes!
Those who have watched the movie and then the anime said “As for the anime, I felt as if I was watching the movie version again but some of the details are little different so it was fun for me to see those differences!”
And also said “I’m curious about how those who watch the anime first will react,” smiling at the same time……(∩´∀｀)∩! In the movie, the upheaval has occurred so I guess we will see the same thing in anime too?

Outline of WAVE!! ～サーフィンすっぺ～!

A new world begins from an encounter!
It’s a sports anime to know the best part about surfing!

The main protagonist, Hinaoka Masaki, is a boy who has been raised in Ibaraki-Ken Ooarai-Machi. Masaki is not good at swimming and how he swims is always made fun of, saying he’s like a dog, corgi, swimming.

One day, a boy is moved into the town, where Masaki lives in.
The boy surfs better than anybody else, shining so beautifully with the sunset.
The boy’s name is Akitsuki Shou.
Shou is very polite, excellent academically and such a talented surfer.

Masaki starts surfing after he encounters Shou, even though he has just been watching someone do before that.
What Masaki has learned from Shou is that he should focus on surfing without being afraid of the sea, let himself ride on the wave, stand, feeling the wind and…… see the scenery which he has never seen before from there.
That day, Masaki realizes how fun surfing is.
He even feels a little closer to the sea, which he has just been watching before that.
This is a quick outline of Episode 1! Now Masaki knows how fun surfing is. He will encounter more and more new friends while enjoying surfing……! What’s gonna happen next? Let’s check it out!
