Therefore, our Boss bought us a cake to celebrate in the office! Woohoo!

Well...... These Japanese sweets are called TAIYAKI.

Boss!!

Taiyaki is a Japanese fish shaped cake, that usually has red bean paste or custard filling. The tai of taiyaki means the red seabream fish the cake takes its shape from. The red seabream is the fish for celebration! Also, the word, medetai, that rhymes with TAI yaki means happy or auspicious in Japanese. So I thought Taiyaki is a perfect cake for today!

Well...... honestly, I prefer normal cake, but actually Taiyaki is famous as an auspicious food in Japan. You are right! It may be a better choice for celebrating our 6th anniversary with these sweets!

While eating 6 Taiyaki, I want to check back on my life at Goods Republic for the last 6 years! When I started working for this company, Goods Republic was born! So the history of Goods Republic and my work experience are the same! I feel a nostalgic feeling!! What kind of anime did I like for the last 6 years?

The first year：Yuri!!! on Ice

When I became a member of Goods Republic in 2016, I did not know much about the company. I tried my best to learn my job every day, but I still remember that I was very much into Yuri!!! on Ice that was airing in October until December!!

I like drama and a well-written story in anime, so I really like the story of the skating competition, Yuri!!! on Ice, and I was looking forward to watching it every week! I have a wonderful memory of visiting its collaboration café to have yummy sweets!!

The second year: Osomatsu-san

In the second year, I became a big fan of Osomatsu-san. I started liking it during season 2 in 2017, instead of season 1 in 2015. I don’t know why. It was my second year at work, and I started having emotional leeway. So I really enjoyed this comedy anime. My favorite character is Juushimatsu in this anime. He is always energetic but sometimes becomes mysterious!! Watching his episode made me so happy!

The third year: Dakaretai Otoko 1-i ni Odosarete Imasu.

The anime I was very much into in 2018 is this one! To tell you the truth, it is a BL (Boys Love) series. I never checked out BL titles that much before, but Dakaretai Otoko 1-i ni Odosarete Imasu was my first BL experience and I learned about this genre.

I like romantic stories, especially in drama. BL titles have many similar aspects of romantic drama. Characters’ changes in emotional state were described very well. The story development was sometimes intense. I don’t think I expected to enjoy this series when I watched the first episode. However, I was gradually into the story very much! Then, I could not wait to watch it every week! I enjoyed a lot! It was a real eye opener for me! I definitely chose this Dakaretai Otoko 1-i ni Odosarete Imasu. as my favorite anime for 2018!

The 4th year: Kimetsu no Yaiba (Demon Slayer)

Sorry! My favorite anime in 2019 is this one. That is all.

It was an amazing hit and became a social phenomenon, not only in Japan but also all over the world!! I read the original manga and watched the anime. I borrowed a whole set of the original manga from a member of Goods Republic before it was made into anime. I remember that it was very satisfying to read a complete set of such an interesting manga all at once. Ever since I started working, I really did not have time to read (buy) manga (I buy games though).

As you know, the original manga was already completed. The final episode was impressive. Many of you will probably choose Kimetsu No Yaiba for the anime of 2019!

The 5th year：Jujutsu Kaisen (Sorcery Fight)

I was very much into Kimetsu no Yaiba in Weekly Shonen Jump in 2019. So I started reading Jujutsu Kaisen that was serialized in it at the same time! Yes, I was into Jujutsu kaisen as well!

I just could not wait to read both Kimetsu no Yaiba and Jujutsu Kaisen every week at that time. I was just impressed by all manga serialized in Shonen Jump. I became a big fan of Fushiguro Megumi-kun because he is cool and disciplined! OH, I also like Gojo-Sensei, of course!

The 6th year：SK∞(SK8 the Infinity)

It was hard to pick between The Vampire Dies in No Time and SK∞(SK8 the Infinity), but I decided SK∞(SK8 the Infinity) as my favorite anime in 2021! SK∞(SK8 the Infinity) is an original anime, so we can’t read manga ahead of anime episodes. So I am looking forward to watching it every week! This is why I chose SK∞(SK8 the Infinity)!

I have an impression that original anime do not easily become popular, but SK∞(SK8 the Infinity) is different. In 2021 it was announced that the sequel will be made! I am very looking forward to watching it!

This year, I will probably chose my favorite as Tokyo Revengers! I reviewed what I really liked for the last 6 years. I can’t believe it has been 6 years since Yuri!! on Ice was aired! (I am waiting for the movie adaptation!) It was interesting to look back about anime I was into and to remember about myself as well!
